Nigeria: Friday Ekpo blasts Leicester City Striker Kelechi Iheanacho

Former Nigeria international, Friday Ekpo, has accused Kelechi Iheanacho of being his own problem in his career.

The 23-year-old LeicesterCity forward has experienced a drastic downturn in his football career. He was the most rated young talent as he helped the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013. He was not called up for the Super Eagles in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament as he didn't have enough playtime with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Friday Ekpo feels he should have left Leicester City as a lot of clubs would have given him a contract...

“Iheanacho is still young but age is gradually catching upon him. He needs a club where he would be playing regularly. To me, Iheanacho is the architect of his misfortune. He should be more interested in playing the game than chasing after megabucks. If he moves to Besiktas, his value would drop and he is not going to the club to grab an automatic shirt. He is still going to fight for a regular place because Besiktas is not a small club in Turkey.”

How can Iheanacho work on himself? Should he remain at Leicester City or prepare to leave?
