SPORTS: MEN'S UEFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR YET TO SIGN NEW DEAL WITH CLUB

Liverpool supporters are eager to know whether Virgil Van Dijk would be signing a new contract with the Reds but it looks as if they would have to wait a bit longer as the club has no intent on opening contract talks with him.

It was reported by the Mirror that the Liverpool defender had agreed to a new deal with the club but according to Liverpool Echo, Jürgen Klopp's side has no plans, whatsoever, to open talks with the Dutchman over a new deal in the near future.

Given Van Dijk’s importance to Liverpool, we wouldn’t blame them for handing a new mega-money deal to keep him at the club for the long term.

Although, it seems like the former Southampton man is far from close agreeing on a new deal with the European champions if this report from the Liverpool Echo is anything to go off.

Virgil Van Dijk was named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year and Defender of the Season for 2019. This might make some think that Liverpool would be willing to give the defender a new deal.
