As the France 2019 Women's World Cup is over, the new season of the FA Women’s Super League starts on the 10th of September, 2019.

Arsenal were the champions last season, with Manchester City finishing in second place. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur would also be playing this season as they were promoted from the FA Women’s Championship.

Let' take a look at the twelve teams competing this season...


First on the list are the defending champions, Arsenal. This team is managed by Joe Montemurro with Meadow Park, Borehamwood as their home ground. They would be playing their first match on the 8th of September, 2019 against West Ham.

Out of twenty games played last season, they won eighteen of them but would have to work harder this season as their rivals would be training to improve.

One of the team's top players is Vivianne Miedema who finished as the Women's Super League top scorer has 21 goals in 20 games for Arsenal. She became Netherland's all-time record scorer before her 23rd birthday.


Next up on the list is Birmingham City which is managed by ThiMarta Tejedor. Their home ground SportNation.bet Stadium is at Solihull. They finished in the fourth position last season. The first match is against Everton on September 8. The key player to watch out for is Lucy Staniforth.


Brighton & Hove Albion is one of the super teams in this tournament. This club is managed by Hope Powell with their home ground, The People’s Pension Stadium, situated in Crawley. They finished in the ninth position last season. One player to look out for is Maya Le Tissier. Their first game would be against Bristol City on September 7.


Bristol City is also going to be playing this season. They finished in the sixth position last season under the management of Tanya Oxtoby. Last season they finished sixth and will be hoping for improvement this season. Tanya's side would be facing Brighton for their first match on September 7. Olivia Chance is one of the players to out for this season.


Chelsea is managed by Emma Hayes with Kingsmeadow as their stadium in Kingston. They finished third in the last season and are going to give their all this season to be crowned champions. Their first natch would be at Stanford Bridge against Tottenham on September 8. Guro Reiten is a player to look out for as her presence in Chelsea’s attack, capable will be a big boost for them.


This club came out tenth in the last season under the management of Willie Kirk. The first match would be against Birmingham City on the 8th of September. Simone Magill would be one of the players to watch. She was Everton's player of the year last season.


Liverpool had a tough season last year with Neil Redfearn leaving just one game into the campaign. Vicky Jepson is the new manager of the club. They finished in the eighth position. The first match would be against Reading on September 8 at their home ground Prenton Park. Sophie Bradley-Auckland would be Jepson's strength in defence this season.


Manchester City finished second in the last season with Nick Cushing as the manager. They would play against Manchester United at Etihad Stadium on the 7th of September. One of their key players is Georgia Stanway. She scored eleven goals in the league.


The newly-promoted club which is managed by Casey Stoney finished first in the Women's Championship. The Red Devils went through the Championship with ease but they would have to work hard to make it in this league. They would play against Manchester City on the 7th of September. Jackie Groenen is United's new arrival and would be one player to keep an eye on.


Kelly Chambers' team finished in the fifth position last season and is gunning to improve this season. Fara Williams stands out in this club with eleven goals in twenty appearances. They would play against Liverpool for their first match.


Tottenham was also promoted to the Super League as they came out second in the Championship. Karen Hills has a lot to do to stay in the league and she can achieve this as he has a star player in her team. Gemma Davison is a player that provides pace and skill on the flanks which can cause problems for even the best defender. The first match will be against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the 8th of September.


West Ham United would be facing a great challenge this season in the league. They finished seventh last season. They would be playing against Arsenal on the 8th of September. Key player to watch is Jacynta Galabadaarachchi.
