SPORTS: PREMIER LEAGUE, BUNDESLIGA, LIGUE 1, LA LIGA AND SERIE A START DATE


As the African Cup of Nations tournament is over, let us start getting prepared for the 2019/2020 LaLiga, Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 seasons which would be filled with a lot of new players, coaches and a lot of awesome football action.

Premier League

The English Premier League (EPL) was formed on the 20th of February, 1992 as the FA Premier League in England. It is the most-watched league and in 2018, it was ranked second in UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances over five seasons. Manchester United has the most championships in EPL with a total of thirteen titles. Manchester City is the current champions for 2018/2019 season making it a total of four titles they have won so far.

The 2019/2020 season starts on the 9th of August, 2019. Norwich City, Sheffield United and Aston Villa were promoted from Championship to Premier League while Cardiff City, Fulham and Huddersfield Town were relegated.

LaLiga

The Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Primera División (LaLiga or La Liga Santander for sponsorship reasons) is one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the world and is the top football division in Spain. Real Madrid has the most championship with a total of thirty-three titles. Barcelona is the current title holder for 2018/2019 which would make it a total of 26 titles which they have won so far.

The 2019/2020 season starts on the 17th of August, 2019. Girona, Huesca and  Rayo Vallecano were relegated while Osasuna, Granada and Mallorca were promoted.

Bundesliga

The Bundesliga (Fußball-Bundesliga or 1. Bundesliga) is the top league in Germany which is ranked fourth according to UEFA league coefficient for the 2018/2019 season. Bayern Munich has won the title twenty-eight times making them the most championship holders and they are also the current 2018/2019 champions.

The 2019/2020 season would start on the 16th of August, 2019. VfB Stuttgart, Hannover 96, 1. FC Nurnberg were relegated. 1. FC Koln, SC Paderborn, Union Berlin were promoted.

Serie A

This league is also called Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons and is the highest Italian football league. The current champions of the 2018/2019 season and the highest championship holders in the league is Juventus.

The season is starting over the weekend of August 24th/25th, 2019.

Ligue 1

It is also called Ligue 1 Conforama for sponsorship reasons and is the highest professional league in France with Saint-Étienne being the highest title holders with 10 titles and Paris Saint-Germain being the winners of the 2018/2019 season.

The 2019/2020 season starts on the 9th of August, 2019.
