Women's World Cup: Countries In The Quarter-Finals
The France 2019 Women World Cup Saturday and Sunday matches were full of some awesome football action in the last week on Saturday and Sunday. Only the tough ones could scale through. Win or lose the ladies tried so much.
Germany was victorious in their match against Nigeria. The match ended with Germany scoring three goals and Nigeria was not able to score any goal. The opening goal for Germany was scored by A. Popp followed by a second from S. Dabritz and L. Schuller found the back of the net to crown it all up.
WATCH HIGHLIGHT
Australia lost their match against Norway in a penalty shoot-out. The first goal was scored by Norway's player I. Herlovsen 31 minutes into the match and E. Kellond-Knight scored an equalizer for Australia which led them into penalties. The referee showed a red card to A. Kennedy 104 minutes in the extra time.
WATCH HIGHLIGHT
England was victorious in their match against Cameroon even though some Cameroon players thought the referee cheated them in some manner. However, the game ended three goals to nil in England's favor. The names of S. Houghton, Ellen White and A. Greenwood were in the scoreboard.
WATCH HIGHLIGHT
Brazil was defeated by France in a really interesting match. Isa scored the only goal for Brazil while France got the victory through the goals of V. Gauvin and A. Henry.

Canada's journey was also cut short by Sweden when they were defeated in a match that has only one goal. S. Blackstenius was the heroine for Sweden as she was the one who scored the winning, and only, a goal in the second half of the match.

China PR lost its chance to win the Cup after being defeated Italy in a match that ended two goals to nil. Italy had its first celebration when V. Giacinti scored the opening goal in the first half of the match. A. Galli topped it up as she scored the second goal of the match.
WATCH HIGHLIGHT
Japan gave the Netherlands a lot of difficulty in their game but could not come out victorious. The Netherlands succeeded in winning the game with two goals. The first goal was scored by L. Martens 17 minutes in the first half but in the 43rd minute Y. Hasegawa equalized for Japan. Martens later brought total victory to the Netherlands as she scored the second and winning goal when a penalty was awarded to them in the final minutes of the match.
WATCH HIGHLIGHT
The countries that could not make it into the quarter-finals would have to prepare for the next WWC tournament. As the Round of 16 matches is over, the countries that made it to the Quarter Finals have been grouped and would be played on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday:
Thur: Norway would face England by 8pm
Fri: France would face the United States by 8pm
Sat: Italy would face the Netherlands by 2pm and Germany would face Sweden by 5:30pm
There must be a winner and there must be a loser. Only the strongest team would make it.
